All About IAP
September 16 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm$275.00
before August 16th 2018 $200 after August 16th 2018 $275
Development of IAP (intra-abdominal pressure) is required to produce power in the limbs, and to prevent injury during dynamic movements of the body. An inability to develop IAP can be linked to a variety of symptoms including chronic low back pain, tightness in the hips, urinary incontinence and other pelvic floor dysfunction, shortness of breath and headaches. Development of healthy IAP involves a beautiful co-contraction of several muscle groups, as well as control of the breath.
In this workshop, you will learn:
* How to assess whether or not someone can use breath to initiate development of IAP
* The factors involved in developing good IAP
* Treatment techniques and corrective drills to help address common problems with development of IAP
Practical activities may including palpation, muscle testing, experimentation with corrective exercise and group work to increase comprehension of these concepts. You will be guiding movement and doing corrective exercise drills throughout the course. You will leave the course with tools that you can apply immediately to your practice as a massage therapist, physiotherapist, personal trainer, yoga instructor etc. This course will involve a lecture/discussion portion as well as practical group exercises. Participants should wear comfortable, workout-type clothing.
*** Attend this workshop and “Posture & Kinetic Chains”, on September 23rd, for the discounted rate of $375 for both workshops. Must be paid by August 23rd to receive this discounted rate***
