Preparing for A Summer of Sun Safety in Recreation and Sport The Sun Safe Nova Scotia Coalition hopes to partner with Registered Massage Therapists to offer seasonal training around the province on the topic of Summer Sun Safety. Each June Municipal Recreation departments and Sport and Youth-focused organizations offer comprehensive training to their summer staff. These are fun and interactive workshops designed to educate and motivate summer staff on a variety of topics. With growing interest in sun safety the opportunity exists to offer this as part of the staff training. A summer sun safety workshop will communicate how to have fun in the sun while still being safe! How can you be part of the solution? Attend a "Train the Trainer" workshop to become familiar with the material and enhance your facilitation skills on Monday, March 28th in Halifax Connect with local Recreation Departments and Sport Organizations about their upcoming staff training (majority take place on weekdays during the last two weeks in June). Commit and volunteer to facilitate 1 to 2 Summer Sun Safety Workshops (usually 45 minutes long) on a yearly basis. If you're interested in making a difference and giving back to your community by being a Summer Sun Safety Trainer, please contact Tracy at firstname.lastname@example.org by March 16th. There is no cost to attend and some funds are available for those who are traveling outside of HRM to offset the cost of gas and accommodations for 1 night. Thank you to the RMT who have already responded to this opportunity.
