This online course will help educators analyze their preferred learning style and recognize the learning styles of others, as well as create a lesson plan which follows specific learning outcomes. Educators will enhance their knowledge of adult learning principles and the specialized needs of adult learners through determining their own learning style and multiple intelligences. Educators will develop strategies and techniques for immediate practical application in the classroom environment and thus, will improve their teaching effectiveness and their students' learning potential. These are also important aspects of the teaching-learning process, as instructors should teach adults in a way that promotes the best retention of classroom materials and content, which is especially important for competency-based curriculum. Instructors need to be able to have the skills to work with existing prescribed goals and objectives for courses and create lessons which will help students best learn and retain the course content, while taking into consideration the learning needs of the variety of students in the classroom.

  • The minimum requirements for entry into the program include ONE of the following: Must have successfully completed a Massage Therapy program and/or Spa and Aesthetics program; OR Must be a registered practitioner in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM); OR Member of a Professional Association which assumes many of the duties of a regulatory body (in the absence of regulated professions in Canadian Provinces); OR Other individuals with advanced degrees AND at least 2500 hours of experience working with clients in a clinical setting (this occupational experience can be combined from more than one healthcare field)
