This online course will help healthcare professionals in the area of assessment and evaluations. Instructors have a profound responsibility to their students, to the profession and to the public at large to ensure that students are properly assessed and their knowledge and professionalism is fully evaluated. This is an extremely important skill and professional development topic, as many associations have competency-based curriculum standards. This course will examine current theories of assessment in health care professions in general and in massage therapy and spas in particular. Furthermore, this course will examine the practical methods typically used to measure students' knowledge and skill acquisition, as well as to assess their abilities to provide proper care in clinical settings. Various approaches and topics pertaining to written and performance-based assessments and tests will be covered.

  • The minimum requirements for entry into the program include ONE of the following: Must have successfully completed a Massage Therapy program and/or Spa and Aesthetics program; OR Must be a registered practitioner in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM); OR Member of a Professional Association which assumes many of the duties of a regulatory body (in the absence of regulated professions in Canadian Provinces); OR Other individuals with advanced degrees AND at least 2500 hours of experience working with clients in a clinical setting (this occupational experience can be combined from more than one healthcare field)
