E2K 3W3 Fee: $350.00 (ANBMT members only) Non-Member: $500.00 (PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY REGISTRATION; NO RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED) CEUs: 9.75 category “A” CEUS (CMTNB Approved) Course Details The Meridian Massage course is a conceptual bridging of eastern and western approaches to treating sinew and fascia. Material will introduce the basic understanding of Qi, the interrelationship between acupuncture meridians and fascial plains and their roles in the healthy functioning of fascia/sinews. Course content will focus on recognizing the patterns of disharmony relative to the sinew channels and is intended to tie together the different relationships between the muscles, tissues and acupuncture channels in recognizing the disharmony. Discussion regarding the sinew channels and their involvement in musculoskeletal disorders will be covered. In addition, the role acupuncture meridians and acupressure points play in assessment and treatment of muscles, sinews and tissues will be discussed and demonstrated. Examples of common muscle conditions will be presented with concepts and techniques demonstrating the importance of a detailed and holistic approach to therapy. Treatment techniques covered will include the use of acupressure points, taping of meridians/fascial plains, fascial techniques and stretching guidelines to address the disharmonies presented and discussed. What to Bring • Portable Massage Table (1 per 2 participants) • Yoga Mat or similar. • Linens/Face Rest/ Lotion • Paper/Pen • Lunch About the Instructor Shenan is a Registered Massage Therapist (MTAM) and a Registered Acupuncturist (CTCMPAO). She began her practice in 2002. Her interest in Eastern medicine led her to begin studying Acupuncture in 2008. Since completing her acupuncture diploma, Shenan has immersed herself in the study of many different philosophies and practices of acupuncture. She is focusing on bridging the knowledge and respect of the ancient traditions while incorporating more modern methods when applicable. Shenan’s practice and experience has brought her to focus on the integration of complementary therapies, while regarding the body holistically. Therefore, her approach to treatment incorporates a diverse range of modalities from Acupuncture and Massage Therapy, including: cupping massage, meridian theory, myofascial, injury rehabilitation, cranio-sacral, visceral techniques and many others. Through this diverse training, she strives to combine the Eastern roots with the Western adaptations to the philosophies of treatment. Shenan is Director and Instructor for the College of Acupuncture and Therapeutics, an instructor at the Massage Therapy College of Manitoba and a frequent presenter at various seminars for fellow Health Care Professionals and the general public.
