Manual Therapy of the Thorax: Myofascial, Articular, and Exercise StrategiesPresented byHoward Makofsky, RMT, DHSc SEPTEMBER 13 and 14, 2014Course Description:This 2-day course for Massage Therapists provides a manual therapy approach to treatment of the thoracic spine, rib cage and scapulothoracic region. The course includes lecture and supervised lab sessions with emphasis on achieving "maximal pain-free movement in postural balance" through the use of connective tissue techniques, spinal/rib cage mobilization and therapeutic exercise. Implications for shoulder impingement, headaches and TMJ pain/dysfunction will be covered.Course Instructor:Dr. Howard Makofsky is a U.S. trained Physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience as a clinician and educator. Howard takes his passion for manual therapy into his recent career as a Canadian trained Massage Therapist, where he seeks to blend the two approaches to human function. In addition Howard has published numerous articles and a textbook related to the art and science of manual therapy practice.
