Lomi Lomi Massage Level 1

  • Type:
  • Seminar/Workshop
  • Time:
  • 20 hours
Hawaiian Temple Style Lomi Lomi also known as Kahuna Massage was traditionally reserved for royalty and huna or spiritual leaders and is offered as a rite of passage for occasions such as marriage, birthdays, healing crisis or life changes from puberty to menopause. This style of massage provides flowing continuous strokes over the body using hands and forearms, which covers a greater surface area, therefore enhanced relaxation for the client. Many strokes are long and fluid, encompassing the body from head to toe and vary in depth and pace. In addition the body is gently stretchedand joints are moved through their full range of motion. In addition to learning the massage techniques you will also learn how to perform the accompanying traditional Hawaiian hula (optional!) and chants. This style of massage takes one to a place of ultimate relaxation, nurturance and bliss by coaxing the muscles to relax with the fluid, all encompassing strokes.Because the work is so unpredictable clients totally surrender to the ebb and flow of the therapist's hands. The intention in Lomi Lomi is to guide the client or patient to align their mind, body and spirit and empower them to harmonize relationships with others. We are generally so immersed in the medical model of body work that to step outside of it and offer an ancient traditional healing modality can be as refreshing for the therapist as it is for the recipient.
